Safety data sheet (MSDS) FAQ's

Our classifications, based on Chemwatch’s independent toxicological data, may differ from other suppliers or the ECHA portal due to varying data sources.

Why is our classification different to that of another supplier?

If a substance is not included in Annex VI of the EU CLP (Chemical Classification, Labelling and Packaging Regulation) or the retained GB CLP, the manufacturer or supplier is responsible for self-classifying it, provided it is deemed hazardous. Our classification is based on the toxicological data available, which has been evaluated by our provider, Chemwatch, leading to their independent classification of the substance.

Why is the classification different to that of the ECHA portal's C&L inventory?

Notifications to the C&L inventory are used as data to support the classification of products, but this is not the only source of information used thus Chemwatch’s classifications may differ to those on the ECHA portal.

Further information on the data used can be found in section 11 of the MSDS.
